How we handle your information

Last updated: 23 September 2026

Groomsmen Auto Detailing is a mobile car detailing business based in Auckland, serving the Hibiscus Coast and greater Auckland. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect when you book

When you book a detail with us, either through our website or by phone or text, we collect:

  • your name

  • your email address

  • your phone number

  • the address where you would like the work done

  • details about your vehicle, and any notes you give us about what you want

  • your answer to “How did you hear about us?”, if you book online

We collect this because we cannot do the job without it. We need to know who you are, where to come, what vehicle we are working on and how to reach you if the weather turns or we are running late.

Our online bookings run through Acuity Scheduling, which is part of Squarespace. Your booking information is stored there.

If you pay online, your payment is processed by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number.

What we collect when you visit the website

Our website collects some information automatically, whether or not you book anything.

Google Analytics tells us how many people visit, which pages they look at, roughly where in the world they are, what kind of device they are using, and how they found us. We use it to understand what is working and what is not.

Microsoft Clarity records how people move around the site. That includes mouse movement, clicks, scrolling and which pages you see, and it produces a replay of the visit. We use this to find parts of the site that are confusing or broken. Text you type into forms is hidden from these recordings.

The Meta pixel tells us when someone visits the site or makes a booking after seeing one of our Facebook or Instagram ads, and lets us show ads to people who have been to the site. Where you have given us your details through a booking, the pixel may also send a scrambled, unreadable version of your email address, phone number, name, gender, town or city, postcode, country and date of birth to Meta, so Meta can tell whether you are someone who saw one of our ads. This is called advanced matching. The information is hashed before it is sent, which means Meta receives a string of characters rather than your actual details.

These tools set cookies in your browser, including first-party cookies used by Meta. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well if you do.

Email marketing

If you give us your email address, we may send you occasional emails about our services, offers and reminders. We use MailerLite to send these. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can use it any time. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop us emailing you about a booking you have made.

Who we share your information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to anyone for their own marketing.

We share it with the service providers who help us run the business, and only so they can do that job:

  • Acuity Scheduling and Squarespace, who run our bookings and our website

  • Stripe, who processes payments

  • Google, for website analytics

  • Microsoft, for Clarity session recordings

  • Meta, for advertising measurement and audiences

  • MailerLite, for email

Several of these companies are based overseas, so your information may be stored outside New Zealand. We have chosen established providers who are required to protect it.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if we need to in order to protect someone’s safety.

How long we keep it

We keep your booking and customer records for as long as we need them for the purpose we collected them, and for as long as the law requires us to hold business records. Analytics and advertising data is kept according to each provider’s own retention settings.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Our booking system and website are provided by established platforms with their own security measures. No system is perfect, and we cannot promise that information sent over the internet is completely secure.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that is wrong.

To do either, email us at info@groomsmenautodetailing.co.nz or call 021 022 40126. We will respond as soon as we can, and within 20 working days.

You can also:

  • opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on

  • opt out of Clarity recording through Microsoft’s opt-out page

  • change what ads you see, and what Meta does with your information, in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings

  • unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any email

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.

Children

Our services are aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if what we do changes. The date at the top tells you when it was last revised.
